High Blood Pressure is a common cause of erectile dysfunction, but not always. If anyone has high blood pressure it is important that they get it under control. This could be diet and exercise or ultimately medication. It’s best to monitor you BP and consult with your physician.

If your doctor recommends a medication, and you haven’t been experiencing ED,  it’s worth noting that certain types of BP meds are more likely to have sexual side effects such as erectile dysfunction. The types of ED meds that are more likely to cause ED are Diuretics and Beta-blockers. BP meds that are less likely to cause ED are ACE inhibitors, Calcium Channel Blockers, Alpha Blockers and ARB’s. If you weren’t having ED before starting a blood pressure med it might be worth discussing with your doctor if you could switch to a med that may less likely to cause erectile dysfunction.
